hi Andrew
there are two seasons for hiking the trail:
September to November and March to May
the second one (from March) is the most recommended as it is the end of the winter and the north and center of the country are green and blooming . on march there is also beautiful bloom in the desert (at the south).

in order to get to the beginning of the trail in the north, take the bus from tel aviv to kiryat shmona central station (num' 845) witch is the last stop of this line . from there take a bus to "kibbutz Dan" (no 55 or 58) and ask the driver to go to the osishkin museum (Hebrew:"beit osishkin". when you'll get there you will see the beginning of the trail .
