Israel National Trail


The Israel National Trail - INT - Hebrew: Shvil Israel, שביל ישראל - is a 940 km long Hiking Trail crossing Israel from north to south.

The Trail is marked through vast landscapes from the Northern border with Lebanon
through the green mountains of the Galilee, the Mediterranean coast line, urban view of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and the Israeli desert (the Negev) .

The Trail runs through Israeli heritage and history sites as well as sacred sites of Holy Land to all religions (mostly Christianity and Judaism).

Israel National Trail - Getting ready for the hike

Have thoughts on backpacking in Europe? on a trek in Asia? on a Mediterranean hike? - Backpacking in Israel is a mixture of all! Trekking the Israel Trail is your choice!

There are guidance meetings for trail hikers every two weeks at the SPNI building in Tel Aviv.

At the moment it is held in Hebrew only but you can call the SPNI and ask for information in English and maybe to set up an English meeting...

Israel National Trail - on the Hike


Food.. water.. cheap accommodation .. hiking gear..

It is advised to start the Israel Trail's hike with short hikes (up to 15 km) for the first week and to make your accommodation arrangements ahead.

It is also advised to pack as light as possible: Up to 15kg in the northern and central parts and up to 18 kg for the Israeli desert.

The size of your backpack will have a direct effect on the amount of enjoyment (or suffering) on the INT.
