The Israel National Trail - Israel Trail, INT (Shvil Israel in Hebrew), is a 940 km long Hiking Trail crossing Israel from north to south.
This well-marked thru-hiking trail passes through vast Israeli landscapes from the northern border with Lebanon to the green mountains of the Galilee, along the Mediteranean coast line, by the urban attractions of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to the Negev, the Israeli desert.
The Israel-Trail runs through Israeli heritage and historical sites as well as special sites of the Holy Land sacred to many religions, mostly to Christianity and Judaism.
The Israel Trail is the backpackers' road to the real Israel!
The Israel National Trail is one of the long-distance footpaths of backpackers in Asia. The INT covers historic sites, archeological sites and religious sites, fabulous scenery, and vibrant urban areas.

A Story: Israel Trail is not just for the young! A couple in their 50s are backpacking the entire Israel trail North to South. Follow their updates in our INT Forum and in the IsrALS Website.
It is advised to start the Israel Trail's trek with short hikes (up to 15 km) for the first week and to make your accommodation arrangements ahead.
Trail Angels are people along hiking trails who offer help for the
hikers, usually by opening their homes free of charge or by charging a
low price. You will be staying at a private home, in a Kibbutz room, or
sleep nearby in a sleeping bag. Most of the time these "angels" allow
you to use a few facilities in their house.
Gearing up... camping out... hiking gear... lightweight gear... backpacking gear for the Israel National Trail!
There are two main approaches towards gear when thru-hiking the Israeli trail!:
One suggests you take as less gear as you can and make it as light as possible. Since every ounce of weight you carry, you are carrying it over a distance of over 1,000 km.
The other approach is to take whatever you want without giving too much attention to weight.
