The idea of the INT was conceived by Abraham Tamir, a journalist and a nature lover, and its route was marked by the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) in 1995. The trail marks are maintained on a monthly basis. Yatir forest (March)

Best Deals on Hiking Boots at BootBay According to the SPNI estimates, thousands of hikers have already hiked along the INT, and about a thousand of them hiked it fully (takes about 1.5 months).

In the last 5 years the INT has become extremely popular among Israeli hikers and it started to become pupular among international travelers. Israeli hikers tend to hike it before or after having their backpacking travel abroad.

The INT goes through Jewish and Arab villages, passing near places of religious significance to Christians and Jews and it offers a tremendous way for you to journey in the Holy Land.

Close to the trail you can find Israel hostels, Israel guest houses and rooms.Cafe in Old Nazarat
