UNESCO is an agency of the UN established in 1945 to contribute to peace and security in the world by promoting international collaboration.

UNESCO selects and maintains a list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites - 
sites that are considered to be in the interest of the International community to preserve and protect.





UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Israel
(the Holy Land) are:

  • White City of Tel Aviv         
  • Old City of Jerusalem
  • Old City of Acre
  • Baha'i Holy Places in Haifa and Western Galilee
  • Biblical Tels – Tel Megiddo, Tel Hazor, Tel Be'er Sheva
  • Incense Route - Desert Cities in the Negev – Haluza, Mamshit, Avdat and Shivta
  • Masada
